The Nanny Life

Being a nanny is not one of those jobs that kids aspire to do while in school. I believe it is
born sometimes out of necessity. But, there are times when it comes from the genuine
love for kids and the desire to take care of them.

My Nanny life was born out of necessity but over time it developed into a real passion
and love of the job. I found my purpose without intending to do so.

Being a nanny comes with a lot of responsibilities, we are tasked with caring for a child
10-12 hours per day. Most if not all professional/career nannies perform numerous duties
that include laundry, preparing meals, light house cleaning and organizing playdates. We
are also tasked with finding various classes and activities for enrollment, homework
help, creating and maintaining a schedule and for the physical and emotional well being
of the child.

Sometimes, these duties overlap into what I believe to be house management
responsibilities. For instance, we are sometimes asked to do grocery shopping and
perform minor errands like dropping off and picking up dry cleaning as well as taking
over all the maintenance and repair of the nanny car( this car is owned by the family and
is only used to drive the kids to activities and to perform errands).

We are expected to keep the child/children safe and happy and to ensure that the children
are kind, well behaved and all their needs are met. The Nanny Life is not a coveted job.
The task itself however is incredibly important and warrants both parents and nanny to
work together as a cohesive unit
